An important element when designing the successful Project, Endowment or Capital Campaign is the GIFT RANGE ANALYSIS. Also known a the GIFT TABLE, the Clemons-Associates team has designed the GIFT RANGE ANALYSIS for client campaigns ranging from $1M to $300M.
While the format is straightforward, this important pre-campaign tool is built with the input of staff, Board, Campaign Committee, architects/designers, consultants and even Program Directors, Docents, Curators, Educators and Volunteers.

Ensure your campaign consultant shares several versions of this mission-critical tool.
PURPOSE
The Gift Range Analysis is an excellent tool a) to get all stakeholders on the same page regarding the scope/scale of a campaign; b) designed in the pre-campaign phase; c) frequently visited through out the silent and public phases; d) updated as needed pending receipt of gifts/pledges.
DESIGN APPROACHES:
Segregate Gift Range Analysis by levels (tiers) of gift levels
Convey total campaign goal through 'gifts projected'
Separate gifts received vs. commitments received
Total all gifts to help communicate the scope of solicitations
Showcase (compare) the # of gifts vs. # of prospects needed

USING this TOOL
a) Helps convey Gift Analysis with level/quantities of gifts
b) Helps convey Naming Opps are closely aligned with Campaign Goals and Gift Range Analysis (aka Gift Table)
c) Can align (rank) prospective donors after they have been identified by at least three factors: a) CAPACITY ($); b) PROPENSITY (how they might be connected to our cause; c) PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP (does someone on the Committee golf, travel, go to sporting events with or do business with targeted prospective donor?)
d) Helps in overall communication. Discuss the table at each Campaign Meeting and have a 'Recorder' (or the internal accountant/bookkeeper) make notes; immediately make tool available to all staff, Committee Members
f) Helps convey the 'close rate' relative to prospective donors visited vs. gifts procured

Bonus Idea: In some cases, the solicitor might discreetly pull this spreadsheet out and show a prospective donor where they might 'fit' in Gift Table; this can work well to 'trade up' a donor into a major NAMING OPPORTUNITY
Bottom line: The GIFT RANGE ANALYSIS is a great way to help your staff, Board, Committee Members and stakeholders understand the scope and scale of the campaign. It is a helpful platform to set expectations of campaign-related energy, time and resources. It is a great tool to tie together Campaign Planning, Campaign Execution and Accounting elements.
